GWAVA Keeps the Light on for GWGuardian Customers and Channel Partners
While not widely known, the core technology behind GWGuardian was not actually developed by The Messaging Architects. In fact, with the exception of four secondary add-on utilities (C1 Snapin, Alias Wizard, Webaccess Scanner and MailboxScanner). GWGuardian was a re-branded version of a product called modusGate which they licensed from a company called Vircom.

GWAVA 4 Webinar Installation Training Q&A - Canadian Market
Q. The administrator information, is not authenticating back to edirectory?
No, the administration accounts are accounts specific to the GWAVA4 administration tool. YOu can create multiple accounts as required.
Q. Does the updater request come from the server, or from your workstation? ie..does the server send the request to the website directly?
All update requests are initiated by the administrator through the administration web interface, however the task itself is done by the server.
Q. If I migrate from GWAVA does it bring across exception lists etc.
Yes, an upgrade from GWAVA 3 will bring accross those settings. Please see http://support.gwava.com/wiki/index.php/Moving_settings_over_from_GWAVA_3
Some notes on Migrating GWAVA 3 to GWAVA 4
Now that you're ready to move to GWAVA 4, one of the most common questions that comes up is "how do I migrate my GWAVA 3 configuration?".
That's a great question and we even have a wizard built in to GWAVA 4 for this.
After the discussion, you will see why we generally recommend the you start up a new configuration rather than importing an old one.
Let's think about this for a moment and see what exactly we DO have in the GWAVA 3 configuration that we would want to migrate.
1) spam configuration. You've spent a lot of time, perhaps, in optimizing your antispam engine. There are two points about this.
Top Spammer Arrested: AP story
Here is a link to a story by Associated Press about a top spammer, dubbed a "Spam King" who was arrested yesterday.
Technically, it outlines how this spammer has been using all of the latest techniques to get his messages out - techniques which are effectively controlled by GWAVA 4.
What I find interesting is that this person made over 3/4 of a million dollars spamming and his fine is only 1/4 of a million. It's a lot of money but that would leave him with a half million dollars in the end.
So there is really no need to wonder what motivates spammers. We just need to continue to protect ourselves against fraud artists like them.
