Following up on 'Change the GroupWise API connection mode of your BlackBerry Server' I just got hold of this useful KB article after reading a thread on the NGWlist. KB04164 talks about updating the GroupWise client in detail.

Now, check the release notes of the GroupWise 7.03 client which states:

"If Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) is installed in a GroupWise 7 environment then upgrade the BES to a version which supports the GroupWise 7 client (BES 4.0 SP 7 or BES 4.1 SP4), and upgrade the GW client installed on the machine to 7.0 SP3 (dated 09 Mar 2008)." Also, the readme states: "Compatibility with RIM’s Blackberry* Enterprise Server has been improved".

A bit vague sure, but still the bottom line is ... if you use GroupWise 7 and BES 4.1.4 for GroupWise, be sure to upgrade the client to GroupWise 7.0.3, something which isn't updated in KB04164 yet. Do this also if you have changed the 'GroupWise API connection mode' to SOAP. The GroupWise Win32 client then is still needed.
