Here are some frequently asked questions. Hopefully the question on your mind is answered here. If not, drop us a line and we'll see if we can help.

Q: How does this site compare with GWAVA.com?

A: GWAVA.com is GWAVA's corporate website, where you can expect to find a full range of product information on every product in GWAVA's portfolio, as well as purchasing options, information about corporate training and events, partner info, and support. Everything you find there is official and fully supported.

By contrast, GWAVA Nation is a community site where GWAVA users and experts can mingle, share ideas, request new features, post questions, and keep up on the latest best practices. The content you will find here reflects the varying interests and concerns of the community.

The information on GWAVA Nation is unofficial, unsupported, frequently refreshed supplemental information to help you get the most out of your GWAVA products. It is produced and shared by a wide range of users, so the content here is not officially supported by GWAVA.

Q: Do you have to use Kaspersky with GWAVA? Some of my customers are already using other anti-virus products, and are afraid they'll have to switch if they buy GWAVA.

A. No, you don't have to use Kaspersky. A 30-day free trial of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is bundled with GWAVA, but if you are already using another vendor for anti-virus protection, you do not need to use the bundled Kaspersky product. Check this page for instructions on configuring other AV Scanners to be used with GWAVA instead of KAV.

Q: How does GWAVA compare to other email scanning products my customers might be looking at?

Here are a couple of great selling points you should point out to your customers -- it's cheaper, and it's easier on your servers.

Cheaper: GWAVA is a simple NLM installation and does not require additional hardware or firewall protection. It also takes advantage of your existing AV solution-no additional AV software is required.

Easier on Servers: GWAVA is far less server intensive than other email scanning products, and it works at a much lower level - closer to the user - in your AV perimeter, to scan not only messages coming in from the Internet, but also messages sent and received within your domains.

Q: What is the difference between Phishing and Pharming?

A: Phishing attacks use both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers' personal identity data and financial account credentials. Social-engineering schemes use 'spoofed' e-mails to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers. Hijacking brand names of banks, e-retailers and credit card companies, phishers often convince recipients to respond. Technical subterfuge schemes plant crimeware onto PCs to steal credentials directly, often using Trojan keylogger spyware.

Pharming crimeware misdirects users to fraudulent sites or proxy servers, typically through DNS hijacking or poisoning.
